Blob-Tree Metamorphosis

چکیده
Implicit surfaces have proved to be a particularly well suited and efficient model for animating and morphing shapes of arbitrary topologies. The Blob-Tree model is characterized as a hierarchical combination of skeletal primitives organized in a tree. The nodes hold blending, boolean and warping operators, which allows the design of complex objects. In this paper, we address the metamorphosis of the Blob-Tree. This appears a difficult task as the tree data-structures of the initial and final shapes are completely different in the general case, and consequently cannot be matched easily. We propose an original technique that solves the correspondence process and creates an intermediate generic Blob-Tree model whose instances interpolate the initial and final shapes. The animator may control the correspondence between features and can specify both the speed of transformation and the trajectory of the nodes and the leaves of the generic Blob-Tree model. This provides him with a tight control over the transformation so as to achieve good visual effects.

A New Ant Colony Optimization Approach for the Degree-Constrained Minimum Spanning Tree Problem Using Prüfer and Blob Codes Tree Coding
This chapter describes a novel ACO algorithm for the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree (d-MST) problem. Instead of constructing the d-MST directly on the construction graph, ants construct the encoded d-MST. Two well-known tree codings are used: the Prüfer code, and the more recent Blob code (Picciotto, 1999). Both of these tree codings are bijective because they represent each spanning ...

This paper proposes an object detection method using the methods of variable size blob detection along with feature stability. The objective of this algorithm is for detecting variable size and variable shape objects without the use in preceding information of the object of interest. Process of the algorithm constructs a scalespace tree from blobs detected from a series of images after blurring...
متن کاملAdaptive Methods for Individual Tree Detection on Airborne Laser Based Canopy Height Model
One problem of individual tree detection on aerial images or on raster canopy height models is handling of tree crowns of different sizes. On laser scanner data one size attribute, height, is directly available. This gives possibilities to develop processing methods that adapt to the object size. In this study, three adaptive methods were developed and tested for individual tree detection on ca...
متن کاملBlob-based liquid morphing
In this paper, we propose a novel practical method for blob-based liquid 3D morphing. Firstly, blobby objects are employed to approximate a given polygonal surface. The primitives in the medial axis sphere-tree of a polygonal model are utilized as initial blobs— this greatly improves the robustness and efficiency of the blob-based approximation. Secondly, we establish the blob correspondences b...

In this paper, we propose a novel practical method for blob-based liquid 3D morphing. Firstly, blobby objects are employed to approximate a given polygonal surface through an energy optimization procedure so that the distance between the isosurface of blobs and the given model is minimized. The primitives in the medial axis sphere-tree of a polygonal model are utilized as initial blobs — this g...
